That Girls a Genius.

My sister, Janelle.

She's pretty cool, cooler than your average sister or person.

Apart from being cool, she is the kindest person that I have ever known! Now if you think back to how many people you have met since being born, that is a lot! ...?

My sister and I are really close. I am so lucky to say that, maybe it is the age difference (5 years) but she has always been there for me. She is really mature for a 17 year old, properly due to my over detailed stories I would tell her.

I remember when I was around 15 maybe, I told her a secret and I cant remember fully but I think she told my Mum, I didn't speak to her for days! At that stage we were sharing a room, so it was very awkward. Apart from that issue she is the only person in the world I can fully trust.

For some weird reason she looks up to me, but in a way I look up to her.

To top off the perfection of my little sister, she just needs to settle down with a nice Christian boy :) or any guy should kinda be weary of how he does treat her in general, because watch out if she's not treated like royalty. Not kidding.

Lets be honest.

Watching the X Factor results show annoyed me quite a bit with the whole Rachel Crow elimination and not for the reason you properly think. Nicole making the choice to make it a dead lock was kind of a fair choice, she even said afterwards she thought the votes would be more in favour of Rachel. I've seen it done a few times in Australian X Factor and there was no major controversy. Also kind of a strategic move I think, all remaining contestants would clearly beat Marcus Canty in the next round, hopefully not being saved a forth time. Rachel clearly has a future set with Disney and will be making it big in no time. Team Josh anywho!

Watched The Foo Fighters doco/movie Back and Fourth last night. It was interesting. Having little knowledge in the band and only knowing there big hits it was very intriguing to find out their history, what inspired them to write their songs and the many different band members they had throughout the years. I get quite annoyed at myself when I think of the music I listened to back in the days instead of pure goodness, like these guys. Dave Grohl is the man, you have to have such a passion for that line of work. I guess that's like any job though. Jesse put some of their songs on my Ipod so I look forward to being on that mean Foo Fighters buzz.

14 more days till Christmas! Really looking forward to it.

I believe in miracles, since you came along...

I have had a pretty good week, better then most. Except for getting sick at the end, so sick that my head feels like it is going to explode into confetti.

I was lucky enough to go to Rainbows End twice this week, for those who don't know what Rainbows End is, its pretty much New Zealand's only theme park. Was fun! But I remember it being so much more exciting when I was younger. When I was in intermediate I remember going on the roller coaster, that was like 10 years ago, from then on I have never gone back on. I guess for the obvious reason. Since intermediate I have been back to the park several times and declared to who every I was with that "sorry I don't go on that ride.." and I meant it. So when I returned this week with my school, there were a good couple of hundred kids running around the park. One of the students from my school asked me if I would go on the roller coaster with them, as ready as I was to blurt out my usually reply  I looked at her, you could tell she was kinda scared. I agreed acting like it was nothing to me, so as macho as I was trying to be I couldn't hide my nervousness as I got on to what so many people call an amateur roller coaster and " oh that's nothing compared to Australia.." can you  not.
Afterwards I was pretty happy with myself and I really enjoyed it. I think in my head I had held onto the fear I felt when I was 12, but at 22 I kinda wanted that fear and excitement because the Pirate Ship just wasn't cutting it.

Apart from coming down with the flu which I'm sure my boss thinks I am faking because I went to rainbows end twice and then called in sick for the last few days, while I was at home I streamed the Victoria Secret 2011 Runway Show, not sure if that is the right name for it but it was awesome to watch! I am sure those models have the most fun! So in relation to the title of this blog post, here are a few of my favs.

The Passion Collection was my favourite.

Miss Selena! This was my favourite outfit from the EMA'S. I love the bejewelled shorts and the pumping heels, oh and her legs. Wow..

Queen/ Freddie Mercury
Legend.

Breaking Dawn,
I watched this movie in the early hours of this morning and it is totally worth feeling like a zombie at work!  I’m not too sure about the new director Bill Condon's style for this and the next movie, to me it was quite obvious the different style, at some points seaming a lil budget? Spec with the werewolf scenes which was a mini downfall after seeing them in Eclipse. Another buzz kill moment for me was the music, I was disappointed to see that Muse are not on the soundtrack but Bruno Mars is... I am all about Bruno but the past Twilight movie soundtracks have been very indie and some what poppy? I do love the song by Christina Perri " A Thousand Years". The positives for sure out way the negatives in this movie. As a loyal fan I applaud Condon for his loyalty to the book, not changing much at all.
.

Douche or not, I love Kanye and I was thoroughly disappointed that hens not coming to Big Day Out 2011. Here’s hoping he comes back this year.

'Cause when you're fifteen..

Walking to the train station this morning, I was listening to some Taylor swifty "Fifteen" to be specific and this song pretty much somes up my fifth form year, so I thought I would do my best to offer some advice in those areas, as I didnt always make the best choices. Some advice I thought I would give to tthose who maybe around this age.

When I was fifteen/ sixteen I had started my fifth form year, just stopped doing rowing (my main sport that I did when I went to college) and pretty much had my first serious boyfriend.

First verse.
School: Rosehill College
I legitamily miss high school, I miss the structure, the people and the environment. Enjoy college! When you leave of course you are happy but every time I drive past my old school something in me kind of aches, maybe this ache is fuelled with regret or sentences that begin with " I should have..." Get involved with anything or everything that you can.

Second verse.
Your friends.
At college I went through different friend groups, in year 9 I began to hang with my friends that I had, had since primary and intermediate, things change, when your not in the classes with them, as sad as it sounds you tend to move on and make new friends. I became very good friends with a few girls that I did rowing with and I thought it was great! until...I realised what back stabbing was. I don't know if it was because I was so young at intermediate but I didn't experience any of that! I was shocked to figure out how bitchy girls can be. To be honest it really hurt. Continued to be friends with other girls at rowing and that didn't always feel great because they were both literally size 8 and gorgeous! I was a good size 12 so I don't know what I was so depressed about but hanging with them I kinda felt like the outcast. Until I met my friend Shannon, she was pretty gangster! She was/is funny, kind and you can pretty much trust her with anything. We stuck together like glue and today are still good friends. We had some funny times and some hard times, a true friend is how they stick around during the hard times and are there to help pick you back up. My point is, sometimes it takes awhile to find a true friend but when you do, hold onto them and appreciate them. They got your back yo!

Third verse (not sure if its called that but meh)
Mistakes & Boys.
In terms of regrets or being able to go back and change something from my college years or when I was fifteen, its not so much surrounded with my friends or boys, but I would go back and tell myself to concentrate more on school. It is so important to try your best at school! The exams you take today really do count, they predict your future. If your going to muck around, muck around in year 9 and 10 and focus and go hard in 5ht and 6th. Its hard trying to find a job without qualifications. Make it happen. I have some friends that are going so hard at college. They are inspiring!
I had my first serious boyfriend in fifth form, and like what Taylor says "Back then I swore I was gonna
marry him someday, but I realized some bigger dreams of mine" you really do think that. It wasn't the best 2 and 1/2 years but I grew and learnt a lot from that part in my life. If you are going to date throughout college which I guess it is almost impossible these days to not, try find a guy, that treats you like a queen. Actually don't try, Do! Any guy you date should be pretty darn happy that he scored a babe like you, therefore worship the ground you walk on. Some guys are dicks but there are some fantastic ones out there, they may be rare. Gotta go through a lot of rubbish to find the gems. I have one and he's fantastic.

Final Chorus
Be you!
College is a hard time in your life because your tryna figure out who you are and you have school pressure plus hormones running through you, stay strong! Stick to your morals! and finally trust your conscious. Every person should be unique, following the crowd tends to be boring after awhile.

Hope my rambles made some sense. Enjoy college!

Your very first day
Take a deep breath girl
Take a deep breath as you walk through the doors

Very intense.

Was up ultra-late so I thought I would fill one of these questionnaires out. Cool thing about this one is it asks some challenging questions. If you are board you can read what I wrote but my challenge for you is to answer these questions.

  1. Which is worse, failing or never trying? Never trying.
  2. If life is so short, why do we do so many things we don’t like and like so many things we don’t do? The challenge.
  3. What is the one thing you’d most like to change about the world? This question is crazy, but I will base it on something I am passionate about. I would like to change the amount of children dying. I know that is rather broad and everyone dies, but things that we can control like, kids dying because they have a lack of resources e.g. food and education. Just letting kids be kids.
  4. If happiness was the national currency, what kind of work? Missionary in Africa or any third world country, helping kids or Greenpeace activist!
  5. Are you doing what you believe in, or are you settling for what you are doing? I 100% believe in what I am doing.
  6. If the average human life span was 40 years, how would you live your life differently? Trust more, love harder, and generally push myself more.
  7. To what degree have you actually controlled the course your life has taken? Majority but I hope that part and the rest of my life will not be controlled by me.
  8. Are you more worried about doing things right, or doing the right things? Both
  9. You’re having lunch with three people you respect and admire.  They all start criticizing a close friend of yours, not knowing she is your friend.  The criticism is distasteful and unjustified.  What do you do? Lol, I would say I am a loyal friend; I would try to keep my cool and share my opinion on the matter.
  10. Would you break the law to save a loved one?  Yes
  11. What one thing have you not done that you really want to do? Have children.
  12. If you had to move to a state or country besides the one you currently live in, where would you move and why? I would love to move to Ireland , blame P.S I Love You ok.
  13. Do you push the elevator button more than once? Umm not that I remember.
  14. Would you rather be a worried genius or a joyful simpleton? Joyful simpleton, nothing is worth it if it begins with worried..
  15. Why are you, you? Ask the big guy.
  16. Have you been the kind of friend you want as a friend? Yes, I believe so.
  17. Which is worse, when a good friend moves away, or losing touch with a good friend who lives right near you? They are both as bad as each other.
  18. What are you most grateful for? Cheese, but my family, my love and my friends. God pretty much has given me everything I need.
  19. Has your greatest fear ever come true? Nope, hope it never does?
  20. Do you remember that time 5 years ago when you were extremely upset?  Does it really matter now? Haha it really doesn’t.
  21. What is your happiest childhood memory?  What makes it so special? There are so many, I was blessed with a great “child”hood. To say one would most likely be, going for long walks every day in the holidays with my Granddad and cousin. We would walk up and down Snells Beach.
  22. Have you ever been with someone, said nothing, and walked away feeling like you just had the best conversation ever? You don’t always have to fill the silence.
  23. Is it possible to know, without a doubt, what is good and what is evil? Yes, trust your conscious.
  24. If you just won a million dollars, would you quit your job? Nope, I would get board after using some of the money for my wedding, house, family and travel. Plus you should be in a job that you’re not always doing for the money but the satisfaction.
  25. If you knew that everyone you know was going to die tomorrow, who would you visit today? My grandparents, dad, close family and friends. Spend the rest of the day with J.
  26. Would you be willing to reduce your life expectancy by 10 years to become extremely attractive or famous? Ha, no!
  27. If we learn from our mistakes, why are we always so afraid to make a mistake? The pain. No one wants to be hurt? Unless you’re Audrina from The Hills.
  28. What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you? Dance randomly in public.
  29. When was the last time you noticed the sound of your own breathing? When Janelle reminds me that I snore so loud she can’t sleep.
  30. What do you love? God, my family and friends, my students, animals…Jersey Shore..
  31. In 5 years from now, will you remember what you did yesterday? Highly unlikely.

The Lion King and Me.

So yesterday Jesse and I took his little sister to the movies for her birthday to see The Lion King in 3D, it was of course fantastic. Most people have seen the movie more then once right but yesterday I really clicked into the themes and messages that the movie holds, one being:

That stuff happens that pretty much changes your life, leaves you with scars and makes you wanna run away and not face the problem, sweep it under the rug, out of sight out of  mind. But eventually one way or another the past catches up to you and you have to face it, man up and move forward. Woah, deep dude.

Simba's character pretty much relates to anyone, when he was a younger cub he was cute and mischievous as kids are. You get attached to his innocence. Then he gets older and deals with stuff that isn't sugar coated any more.

Timon and Pumbaa are hilarious, well, I think they are. I could only hear myself and this little kid behind me laughing the most. Do not judge me.

Does anybody get how good the music is in the movie? That is prime A meat right there.

I really can't wait to show my kids this movie, I kinda wanna show them when they are old enough to appreciate it. Im sure Dora and Hi 5 can accommodate in the mean time.

Jesse got the DVD for me which I was very happy about because this movie only comes out every 10 years or something? Pretty sure we will have kids within 10 years, so Im glad I have a copy to share :) and I won a toy Simba in one of those arcade games, yus.

“Oh yes, the past can hurt, but the way I see it you can either run from it or learn from it. "

- Rafiki

Ok people, take two or three?

Seeing as my last blog post was dated Sunday, April 24th, 2011, I think it is safe to say I have fallen off the "blogging" ban wagon.

My good friend/sister in law to be is always blogging and has inspired me to get back on the buzz, check her out, she's pretty alright.http://lauratoailoa.blogspot.com/

Also something that I found enlightening was the amount of views I had on a post that I did almost a year ago, in the past week it had about 89 views? so go figure, not sure how legit those figures are but it did make me happy that someone (apart from Laura and Jesse) actually read my blog or used the pictures I copied lol.

Made a "good mood" playlist to blog to, my faves:

  • Crawl by Chris Brown
  • Sweet Disposition by The Temper Trap
  • Don't Stop Believin' by Journey
  • Drive by Incubus
  • Come On Eileen covered by Sugarland and Sara Bareilles
  • Blackbird covered by Cameron Mitchell (glee project)
  • Clocks by Coldplay

Come On Eileen (by Dexys Midnight Runners) video snapshot, random song but really love it. Will prob sing it to the rooftops in a Ireland pub one day :)

Me...and the past month-ish

OK so I haven't blogged in so long! So I am going to break my fake hiatus and get back into it!

Things I have been into since my last post!

Fashion/Beauty, T.V, Health/Fitness, Movies and God.

DulceCandy
I have been really into following quite a few beauty/tutorial/hair channels on youtube. One of the girls I follow religiously is http://www.dulcecandy.com/, she has the best fashion sense ever! Here is my evidence..

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

There are literally hundreds of photos on her blog of outfits and tutorials for hair and make up. She makes me want to venture out from my normal brown and creme coloured eye shadows lol

Khloe and Lamar
Surprise! Amy likes a reality showed based on a Kardashian, well you know.. So what! I love the new E reality t.v show! Mainly because I love Khloe and to see her happy and so in love with her husband makes me very happy! You can tune into E to watch the new series or be fanatic like me and stream it early :)

Working out...eehh.
My sister and I have been trying to be on a health and working out buzz. We have been working out about 3 times a week and to me it still doesnt feel enough, but with help form these pills I have been taking have helped me lose nearly 3kgs in 4 weeks.
Healtheries Naturally Slim Appetite Suppressant capsules
Healtheries Naturally Slim Appetite Suppressant capsules

I usually take 2 before every meal  and I can say that you don't eat as much a you would. They come in a pack of 50, that usually lasts a week, maybe just over. They retail $16.00 at New World, I imagine they would be the same at most supermarkets.
For a full review:

On the workout side, Jan and I have been doing a lot of interval training. Running then walking for about 30mins around town and also boxing, dancing and fanatic workouts from Julian Michaels. With the holidays upon us should be working out everyday! No excuses

Scream 4
Ahhh I was so happy when my boyfriend agreed to go see Scream 4! Not your average date right lol but as a major fan to all the Scream movie's I was ecstatic (like actually) to be old enough to go and watch this movie in the cinema (Scream 3 was released in 2000, so I was 11..errh why was I watching these movie's so young lol). Without giving anything away this movie is true to the Scream fans, if you understand that. You expect the unexpected, always! I loved that the main cast where all originals and I loved the new teen actors as well. Emma Roberts was awesome. Also the hot friend that there always is, Marielle Jaffe is legit a future Victoira Secret Angel, dang it.
I love Neve Campbell! She beautiful and looks awesome for 38! and can kick any ghosts face butt.

The best for last, God
So lately I have been stretched in God, as bad as it sounds I don't always have the courage to go up and pray for people when needed, but with courage from my awesome boyfriend and the holy spirit stirring in me from Storm camp I prayed for my Mum. She has been quite sick lately and through God I believe she is now a lot better.

God is so good!

Something that has been on my heart as well is being water baptised. I have been walking with Jesus for 3 years this May and I still haven't been baptised yet. I was asked yesterday if I wanted to be baptised that night and to be honest I am a people pleaser and was going to say yes on the spot, before I had the chance to my youth pastor said to take time and to think about it and meditate on it. So that is what Im doing.. I heard there are Christians that have been for years and only recently got baptised.
In God's time I know I will feel on my heart when the right time is and I will do it for ME!

I was listening to Brooke Fraser's first album "What to do with daylight" and I came across the song Indelible and I relsied I didnt even know what that meant, so i looked it up. Thank you google :)

in·del·i·ble/inˈdelÉ™bÉ™l/Adjective

1. (of ink or a pen) Making marks that cannot be removed.
2. Not able to be forgotten or removed: "his story made an indelible impression on me"

After finding out what the word meant this song became so much more awesome!

Walk along here, feel you move somewhere in front of me
I can't place you with these eyes for the doubt I can't see

How could someone so beautiful
Feel something for me?
Hold me and love me and touch me again
And show me why i believe

[Chorus]
That the first time I see your face
Everything else around me will fade to the background
And I'll be struck full by the truth in your gaze
As you work and indelible change in me

All I have and all I am and all I think and do
Can find it's purpose and meaning and life only in you

How could someone so beautiful
Feel something for me?
Won't you hold me and love me and touch me again
And show me why I believe

[Chorus x2]

An indelible change in me
An indelible change in me

http://youtu.be/4CFXnAIh1YU
(has Spanish subtitles though lol)

"You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing to you and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give you thanks forever."
- Psalm 30:11-12

My Favs from The Oscars 2011

Scarlett Johansson
Dolce & Gabbana magenta lace gown
When I saw Scar Jo presenting I really didn't like it, but now looking back it is gorgeous. The intricate lace work looks stunning on Johanssons curves and also loving the bed hair.

Mila Kunis
Elie Saab
Do I need to say much?? This girl is just hot! She gets it right all the time! I love the semi Grecian look. The lace and layers are just exquisite.

Michelle Williams
Chanel
I love Michelle Williams, does anybody remember her shy/ inexperienced character in Dawsons Creek? She is far from that now, her beauty is timeless and I love her hair! Can you ever go wrong with Chanel?

Cate Blanchett
Givenchy Couture
This dress is stunning, I reckon its classic from the waist down but from the waist up, that's what makes the dress. Shot Galadriel!

Hilary Swank
Gucci
This is my favourite, im obsessed with feathers anyway.. I love the slim fitting diamond encrusted bodice and the flair metallic feathery look! Not sure if that made sense but I think this is beautiful.. a tad different from the usual feather look.

Happy New Year?

So far this year it has been very testing time in my life, I can honestly say it has been the hardest time yet. Losing everything I have ever had has been so hard! an incredibly testing time with myself, my surroundings and with God.

No matter what I go through I am a strong believer of "..if God brought you to it, he will bring you through it." and i haven’t questioned my faith in this situation (who am I to question God anyway).I know these things happen for a reason and I know my God cares about me more than anyone in this world.

His love for me always brings me back down to earth and makes me remember what is important in life.

John 15:12-14 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. TNIV
I got some great advice from many people but my little sister said to be grateful for the things that I do have:
  • I still have my clothes, in saying this buying a new wardrobe would be cool :)

  • I have all my framed pictures which are extremely important to me, I am all about capturing those moments :)

  • annnnd my Alf. Alf was like my comfort toy that in some cases I couldn’t sleep without, once when I was younger I went to my grandparents and when I went up there I would stay for like the entire school holidays (2 weeks) and I forgot him. My nana was trying to help and gave me like a doll that was really like a toilet roll cosy thing.. I got Alf couriered up to me the next day. He is 21 like me (my first gift I was given after I was born) and where ever I go..he goes :) he has been to Australia and Bali. I’m so grateful I still have him.

I’m blessed to have awesome family and friends who have been such an awesome support.
The Huberians are God sent!

So I still look forward to what the rest of the year will bring!
Going to blog more as well, back in the habit!

He looks scary I know lol. ♥ Alf
