'Cause when you're fifteen..

Walking to the train station this morning, I was listening to some Taylor swifty "Fifteen" to be specific and this song pretty much somes up my fifth form year, so I thought I would do my best to offer some advice in those areas, as I didnt always make the best choices. Some advice I thought I would give to tthose who maybe around this age.

When I was fifteen/ sixteen I had started my fifth form year, just stopped doing rowing (my main sport that I did when I went to college) and pretty much had my first serious boyfriend.

First verse.
School: Rosehill College
I legitamily miss high school, I miss the structure, the people and the environment. Enjoy college! When you leave of course you are happy but every time I drive past my old school something in me kind of aches, maybe this ache is fuelled with regret or sentences that begin with " I should have..." Get involved with anything or everything that you can.

Second verse.
Your friends.
At college I went through different friend groups, in year 9 I began to hang with my friends that I had, had since primary and intermediate, things change, when your not in the classes with them, as sad as it sounds you tend to move on and make new friends. I became very good friends with a few girls that I did rowing with and I thought it was great! until...I realised what back stabbing was. I don't know if it was because I was so young at intermediate but I didn't experience any of that! I was shocked to figure out how bitchy girls can be. To be honest it really hurt. Continued to be friends with other girls at rowing and that didn't always feel great because they were both literally size 8 and gorgeous! I was a good size 12 so I don't know what I was so depressed about but hanging with them I kinda felt like the outcast. Until I met my friend Shannon, she was pretty gangster! She was/is funny, kind and you can pretty much trust her with anything. We stuck together like glue and today are still good friends. We had some funny times and some hard times, a true friend is how they stick around during the hard times and are there to help pick you back up. My point is, sometimes it takes awhile to find a true friend but when you do, hold onto them and appreciate them. They got your back yo!

Third verse (not sure if its called that but meh)
Mistakes & Boys.
In terms of regrets or being able to go back and change something from my college years or when I was fifteen, its not so much surrounded with my friends or boys, but I would go back and tell myself to concentrate more on school. It is so important to try your best at school! The exams you take today really do count, they predict your future. If your going to muck around, muck around in year 9 and 10 and focus and go hard in 5ht and 6th. Its hard trying to find a job without qualifications. Make it happen. I have some friends that are going so hard at college. They are inspiring!
I had my first serious boyfriend in fifth form, and like what Taylor says "Back then I swore I was gonna
marry him someday, but I realized some bigger dreams of mine" you really do think that. It wasn't the best 2 and 1/2 years but I grew and learnt a lot from that part in my life. If you are going to date throughout college which I guess it is almost impossible these days to not, try find a guy, that treats you like a queen. Actually don't try, Do! Any guy you date should be pretty darn happy that he scored a babe like you, therefore worship the ground you walk on. Some guys are dicks but there are some fantastic ones out there, they may be rare. Gotta go through a lot of rubbish to find the gems. I have one and he's fantastic.

Final Chorus
Be you!
College is a hard time in your life because your tryna figure out who you are and you have school pressure plus hormones running through you, stay strong! Stick to your morals! and finally trust your conscious. Every person should be unique, following the crowd tends to be boring after awhile.

Hope my rambles made some sense. Enjoy college!

Your very first day
Take a deep breath girl
Take a deep breath as you walk through the doors

Very intense.

Was up ultra-late so I thought I would fill one of these questionnaires out. Cool thing about this one is it asks some challenging questions. If you are board you can read what I wrote but my challenge for you is to answer these questions.

  1. Which is worse, failing or never trying? Never trying.
  2. If life is so short, why do we do so many things we don’t like and like so many things we don’t do? The challenge.
  3. What is the one thing you’d most like to change about the world? This question is crazy, but I will base it on something I am passionate about. I would like to change the amount of children dying. I know that is rather broad and everyone dies, but things that we can control like, kids dying because they have a lack of resources e.g. food and education. Just letting kids be kids.
  4. If happiness was the national currency, what kind of work? Missionary in Africa or any third world country, helping kids or Greenpeace activist!
  5. Are you doing what you believe in, or are you settling for what you are doing? I 100% believe in what I am doing.
  6. If the average human life span was 40 years, how would you live your life differently? Trust more, love harder, and generally push myself more.
  7. To what degree have you actually controlled the course your life has taken? Majority but I hope that part and the rest of my life will not be controlled by me.
  8. Are you more worried about doing things right, or doing the right things? Both
  9. You’re having lunch with three people you respect and admire.  They all start criticizing a close friend of yours, not knowing she is your friend.  The criticism is distasteful and unjustified.  What do you do? Lol, I would say I am a loyal friend; I would try to keep my cool and share my opinion on the matter.
  10. Would you break the law to save a loved one?  Yes
  11. What one thing have you not done that you really want to do? Have children.
  12. If you had to move to a state or country besides the one you currently live in, where would you move and why? I would love to move to Ireland , blame P.S I Love You ok.
  13. Do you push the elevator button more than once? Umm not that I remember.
  14. Would you rather be a worried genius or a joyful simpleton? Joyful simpleton, nothing is worth it if it begins with worried..
  15. Why are you, you? Ask the big guy.
  16. Have you been the kind of friend you want as a friend? Yes, I believe so.
  17. Which is worse, when a good friend moves away, or losing touch with a good friend who lives right near you? They are both as bad as each other.
  18. What are you most grateful for? Cheese, but my family, my love and my friends. God pretty much has given me everything I need.
  19. Has your greatest fear ever come true? Nope, hope it never does?
  20. Do you remember that time 5 years ago when you were extremely upset?  Does it really matter now? Haha it really doesn’t.
  21. What is your happiest childhood memory?  What makes it so special? There are so many, I was blessed with a great “child”hood. To say one would most likely be, going for long walks every day in the holidays with my Granddad and cousin. We would walk up and down Snells Beach.
  22. Have you ever been with someone, said nothing, and walked away feeling like you just had the best conversation ever? You don’t always have to fill the silence.
  23. Is it possible to know, without a doubt, what is good and what is evil? Yes, trust your conscious.
  24. If you just won a million dollars, would you quit your job? Nope, I would get board after using some of the money for my wedding, house, family and travel. Plus you should be in a job that you’re not always doing for the money but the satisfaction.
  25. If you knew that everyone you know was going to die tomorrow, who would you visit today? My grandparents, dad, close family and friends. Spend the rest of the day with J.
  26. Would you be willing to reduce your life expectancy by 10 years to become extremely attractive or famous? Ha, no!
  27. If we learn from our mistakes, why are we always so afraid to make a mistake? The pain. No one wants to be hurt? Unless you’re Audrina from The Hills.
  28. What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you? Dance randomly in public.
  29. When was the last time you noticed the sound of your own breathing? When Janelle reminds me that I snore so loud she can’t sleep.
  30. What do you love? God, my family and friends, my students, animals…Jersey Shore..
  31. In 5 years from now, will you remember what you did yesterday? Highly unlikely.

The Lion King and Me.

So yesterday Jesse and I took his little sister to the movies for her birthday to see The Lion King in 3D, it was of course fantastic. Most people have seen the movie more then once right but yesterday I really clicked into the themes and messages that the movie holds, one being:

That stuff happens that pretty much changes your life, leaves you with scars and makes you wanna run away and not face the problem, sweep it under the rug, out of sight out of  mind. But eventually one way or another the past catches up to you and you have to face it, man up and move forward. Woah, deep dude.

Simba's character pretty much relates to anyone, when he was a younger cub he was cute and mischievous as kids are. You get attached to his innocence. Then he gets older and deals with stuff that isn't sugar coated any more.

Timon and Pumbaa are hilarious, well, I think they are. I could only hear myself and this little kid behind me laughing the most. Do not judge me.

Does anybody get how good the music is in the movie? That is prime A meat right there.

I really can't wait to show my kids this movie, I kinda wanna show them when they are old enough to appreciate it. Im sure Dora and Hi 5 can accommodate in the mean time.

Jesse got the DVD for me which I was very happy about because this movie only comes out every 10 years or something? Pretty sure we will have kids within 10 years, so Im glad I have a copy to share :) and I won a toy Simba in one of those arcade games, yus.

“Oh yes, the past can hurt, but the way I see it you can either run from it or learn from it. "

Ok people, take two or three?

Seeing as my last blog post was dated Sunday, April 24th, 2011, I think it is safe to say I have fallen off the "blogging" ban wagon.

My good friend/sister in law to be is always blogging and has inspired me to get back on the buzz, check her out, she's pretty alright.http://lauratoailoa.blogspot.com/

Also something that I found enlightening was the amount of views I had on a post that I did almost a year ago, in the past week it had about 89 views? so go figure, not sure how legit those figures are but it did make me happy that someone (apart from Laura and Jesse) actually read my blog or used the pictures I copied lol.

Made a "good mood" playlist to blog to, my faves:

  • Crawl by Chris Brown
  • Sweet Disposition by The Temper Trap
  • Don't Stop Believin' by Journey
  • Drive by Incubus
  • Come On Eileen covered by Sugarland and Sara Bareilles
  • Blackbird covered by Cameron Mitchell (glee project)
  • Clocks by Coldplay

Come On Eileen (by Dexys Midnight Runners) video snapshot, random song but really love it. Will prob sing it to the rooftops in a Ireland pub one day :)
